OUR STORY
Two Decades of Faithful Service
Preserving the core beliefs of the Acquistapace family by providing Catholic schools and students the essential tools for a better Southern California.
WHO WE ARE
Mission, vision, and the values we live by
MISSION
Equip every child to thrive
We provide scholarships, mentorship, school supplies, and warm meals to children in underserved communities — the everyday tools that turn potential into a future.
VISION
A generation that knows it belongs
A world where no child is told they’re too poor, too far, or too forgotten to dream. Where opportunity isn’t a lottery — it’s a guarantee.
VALUES
Dignity, transparency, persistence
We treat every family as a partner, every donor as a steward, and every dollar as a promise. We show our books and our scars — and we keep showing up.
OUR JOURNEY
Acquistapace Family History

Luigi Acquistapace was an immigrant from a small village located just North of Lake Como, Italy called Gerola Alta. The year was 1911. Soon after becoming an American citizen, he fought in World War One and after the armistice he was employed in various jobs from farming to mining in central California. Luigi finally settled in downtown Los Angeles where he and his wife Mary began an auto service station. They became parents of three children: Margaret, Guido and Louis.
Over the years they slowly acquired both residential and commercial rental properties in the surrounding neighborhoods. As they prospered, their central focus on family and church never wavered; their principles of hard work and philanthropy were passed onto their children as well.
It was Margaret and Louis' desire that a family foundation be created as a way of preserving and fostering their core beliefs and their appreciation of a Catholic education.
The Acquistapace Foundation is a Public Charity devoted to the needs of various Catholic schools and students for the betterment of Southern California. It is our continuing goal to provide both charitable funds, tangible donations, services and any essential learning materials the schools may need for the ambitious young people of California.

A note from Tim
"
For almost two decades, The Acquistapace Foundation has dutifully served the needs of California based Catholic schools and students. 2026 is shaping up to become a stellar year for us and as such we are set to pledge $150,000 to $250,000 for the various schools we partner with. With these matching funds we purchase goods and services that the school specifies in advance of the event. Anything from capital improvements to daily consumables, computer systems, air conditioning and services such as electrical, plumbing and the like. Starting this year we will be offering tuition assistance through our newly implemented scholarship program. It is with this program that we hope to aid passionate and ambitious students who are challenged both financially and at home. No gifted child should suffer from the means to enrich his or her life in Christ and their service to others, this is the core of our mission.

Louis Acquistapace (1930 – 2025)
1930 – 2025
Born in Los Angeles, Louis attended Mount Carmel High School and was convinced at an early age that a charity to benefit Catholic students was needed in South Central LA. As a young man "from the wrong side of the tracks," he was dedicated to the ideal that at-risk young men were the ones he wanted to help the most. At Louis' passing in 2025, he left the majority of his investments to The Acquistapace Foundation in the hopes that it would foster values consistent with those deeply held by the followers of Jesus. He felt that often times the young men at odds with the world should never be forsaken, but they may be brought back and forged into dedicated resilient followers. As of 2026, a scholarship is now awarded in his memory to those young men in need of guidance and financial aid for tuition.

Margaret Acquistapace
1923 – 2007
A proud graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Inglewood, California. In 1961, Margaret became an Enrolled Agent and CPA working for various companies in Los Angeles and various individuals in Hollywood for over 45 years. As a lifelong Catholic, her passionate faith compelled her to conceive of a foundation dedicated to helping parochial school students with tuition and improving the schools themselves. Growing up in South Central Los Angeles, she knew the challenges of her fellow students and friends. In memory of Margaret, beginning in 2026, we will be offering a scholarship in her name. This grant will be specifically designated to help young women in need of financial assistance with tuition.
